Tomorrow is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2021!

Saturday, August 14th is Free Comic Book Day! You can go to your local comic shop and choose from a variety of great comics from publishers like Marvel, DC, Darkhorse and more! If you want more info or need to know what shops are participating, check out the Free Comic Book Day website. Every year I take my kids out and make this day an event. It's something we look forward to every year. Here are my top five comics for the 2021 FCBD:

This new series is three times bigger than the previous SMURFS Papercutz graphic novel series, and what that means is a lot more Smurfs plus other beloved creations by Peyo such as Johan and Peewit, the young page and the court jester; and Benny Breakiron, the super-powered little boy. Join Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy Smurf, Hefty Smurf, and so many smurfy others for fun and adventure in the comics that inspired the cartoons, toys, and Nickelodeon series. But be careful, Gargamel, Azrael, and trouble never seem to be too far behind!

Plus, fun extras to catch readers up on Sonic's ongoing adventures, on the road to issue 50! Sonics 30th anniversary celebration will be a huge priority for IDW and Sega this year!

  1. I saw that Spider-Man issue and thought, "I suppose I'll try and get one." Then I scrolled down and saw the Smurfs issue and about pee'd my pants! Now I'm definitely going to my LCS tomorrow.

    1. We were able to get all the books on this list and then some! Only one I wanted and didn't get was the Tick!

    2. I don't recall seeing a Tick book at my local LCS, but yeah, I got all I wanted as well.

    3. NEC usually has one that they put out and I'm sure that since it is not a major publication many comic shops passed on ordering it.

  2. Fighting the crowds is bad enough, but I stopped attending these years ago when my comics shop instituted a one FCBD title per customer policy. Hope you and yours have a great time, though.

    1. One?!?!?! That is utterly stupid. I get limiting one of each per person, but to limit the twenty+ free comics released to just one title per person is a waste of your time. I too would stop going to that event.

    2. What's especially galling is that they have DOZENS of issues leftover for weeks afterward.

    3. My local comic shop held the event outside this year and allowed each person to pick up 5 free comics. Myself and my kids walked away happy! Sorry your shop is so stingy.
